Both of them consolidate the relationship of the company with the largest copper developer worldwide
May 10, 2019 – Abengoa (MCE: ABG/P:SM), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructures, energy and water sectors, has been selected by the National Copper Corporation of Chile (Codelco), the main copper supplier worldwide, for the execution of two new projects in two containment dams for waste resulting from copper extraction.
The first will be developed in Tranque Talabre, located in the north of the country, in the town of Chuquicamata. These works include the construction, assembly and comissioning of several electrical lines, necessary for the energization in 13.8 kV of 22 wells that will allow the mitigation of leaks from the dam.
On the other hand, the second will be developed in Tranque Ovejería, in the town of Til-Til, in the central area of the country, and will consist of paving, installation of containment barriers, security barriers, perimeter fences, irrigation systems, concreting and coating of contour channel, in order to provide the necessary conditions for the correct operation and activity in the dam.
These contracts consolidate Abengoa’s position as leader in large mining sector in Chile, where it has been operating for more than 30 years, and where it has developed significant electrical and electromechanical assembly projects. Recently, Abengoa was also awarded by Codelco the electromechanical assembly of the emission reduction system at its smelter located in Chuquicamata in the framework of emission regulations.
